Broadlands Farm, Bath
Project Duration - 2017 - Present
The project is for eight new dwellings on a previously developed piece on land on the outskirts of Batheaston, Bath. The new dwellings are clad in timber with intensive green roofs and are designed to the 'passivhaus' environmental standard. To improve thermal efficiency the dwellings are equipped with timber window shutters which cover the windows during the night to minimise heat loss.
The design of the dwellings and surrounding landscaping aimed to minimise the visual impact of the development within the wider Cotswolds setting.
The site is in a sensitive location, within the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding National Beauty, Greenbelt and the Indicative area of Bath's World Heritage Site. Subsequently a detailed Landscape Visual Impact Assessment was carried out as part of the planning application.
